Teaching

I have over six years of experience in college classroom teaching in Writing and English, plus additional experience in teaching technology workshops and in instructional design for the web.

I've taught large lecture Gen Eds, British literature surveys, small seminars, online and hybrid classes, one off-workshops on AR/VR and professional development weekly student check-ins. I've worked with traditional college, adult, and Bridge students, in both large university and small liberal arts college environments.

Some of my favorite teaching materials from traditional classes are below.

British Literature, 1660-1900. The traditional survey, taught in the summer for a small seminar-style. Because it was an accelerated class, we used technology to speed up learning and help students keep up with a fast-paced schedule.

  • Lesson Plan: 3 hour class includes: student discussion leadership, a digital humanities demonstration with Voyant, and collaborative writing for an upcoming essay exam
  • Poetry Genius Class Website: Used for weekly group annotation of texts.

Literacy and Society. A course mostly for education majors, interrogating how we read, how school works, and the role of technology in what we do.
